Abandoned...

You wander
Aimlessly
Around your deserted town,
Walk slowly
Through empty streets
Occasionally
Casting a look at a window
Or stopping shortly
To knock
On a closed door
Or read a faded sign.
Wind howls
Through the wide spaces
Driving
Dry fallen leaves
And dust
In circles
Around your soul...
You pause.
A gray sun
Crawls down a mournful sky...
A crow
Settles on a low wall
Holds your attention
For a long minute
Then flies away...
The river flows
Lazily
At the edge of perception.
A distant rumble
Echoes
The beat of your heart
Momentarily...
Before silence sets in...
The day stops.
You go back walking
Just as aimlessly...
"No one sees you
No mind holds you
You are here
Nothing and nobody".
